AB Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is often thought to be a relatively rare condition requiring specialist care. However, early CKD is common and referral of all patients would completely overwhelm existing specialist services. The purpose of this concise guidance is to inform general physicians and general practitioners about the identification and management of CKD, and who to refer for specialist care. Please note that the ‘guideline on management of Haematuria’ printed on page 639 of this article is incorrect. An erratum will be printed in the next issue.
