Caldicott Guardians have a strategic, advisory and facilitative role to ensure that the Caldicott Principles underpin the approach organizations develop to protect and use patient identifiable information. It is essential all staff and students receive appropriate training and are aware that the responsibility for protecting and using patient information lies with the organisation headed by the Chief Executive and with each individual.
