Study criteria

StandardCriteria to meet standard
1. Recognition of AKIIf a diagnosis of AKI is documented in the initial clerking or senior review.
2. Nephrotoxic medication stoppedIf a nephrotoxic medication that was prescribed before the AKI diagnosis had been stopped. Answer ‘N/A’ if the patient is not on a nephrotoxic medication.
3. Urinalysis performedIf a urinalysis result was documented in the medical records. Answer ‘N/A’ if the patient is anuric or awaiting an intervention to drain urine.
4. Renal ultrasound requested if appropriateAnswer ‘N/A’ unless the cause of AKI is unknown or is likely to be obstruction based on the medical records. Standard met if a renal ultrasound request made.
5. Volume assessmentIf any documentation of volume status is found in the medical records (including terms such as dry, overloaded, dehydrated).
