Mimicking the mimicker: Necrotizing sarcoid granulomatosis
2022, American Journal of the Medical SciencesCitation Excerpt :Cough is the most common presentation, followed by chest pain, dyspnea, weight loss, and fatigue. Some do not have symptoms but have abnormal chest radiographs.3 However, unlike GPA, patients with NSG do not have upper airway disease, glomerulonephritis or extra-pulmonary systemic vasculitis.
Incidental Lung Cavity in the Heartland
2022, American Journal of the Medical SciencesCitation Excerpt :Necrotizing sarcoid granulomatosis (NSG) is histopathologically characterized by the presence of sarcoid-like necrotizing granulomas with evidence of granulomatous vasculitis.7 Some authors have proposed NSG to be a subtype of sarcoidosis known as nodular sarcoidosis (NS).8,9 Since no definitive histopathologic marker for sarcoidosis exists, this opinion has not been universally accepted.10
