When overproduced, 5-oxoproline may lead to a high AG metabolic acidosis, which is often the first biological sign of this organic aciduria [14]. As shown in Table 2, a slight increase in 5-oxoproline was also already observed in our patient before the onset of consciousness disorders, highlighting GSH depletion.
